Default welding brake line

Should I use oxy-acetylene or propane? I have read that oxy-acetylene is better. But it seams more expensive. Id have to get the oxygen, the acetylene, the braszing rods and the flux. All that comes out to quite a bit.

With propane, would I still have to get the braszing rods and the flux?

Just use mapp gas like you would on a propane torch. It heats up the brake line faster then propane.

You can get a mapp gas set up at Lowes or Homedepot for $35 to $50. You won't need the oxy with it. The mapp gas alone works well by itself.

You can get mapp gas from any hardware store. It's usually around 6 to 8 bucks for a bottle.

I moved this to tools and procedures.

I like to mig weld my brakeline. I recently switch my welder to .024 wire and it works excepionally well on the thin metals now.

I have never brazed but I have the stuff to, the local Ace Hardware guy help me cuz he was even experienced in brazing. Not like those unhelpful Home Depot folks.

I, like most people around here, use the harris flux that comes in the white plastic container, and has the blue writing on the outside. I think I paid about $7.50 for the container. Speaking of which, how dried out does this stuff get? I haven't used the flux in a couple months, and now its a bit dried out and doesn't smear as well as it once did. Still seems to work Ok though. can you just throw a little water in there to get it pasty again? Sorry for the hijack.
