Default Threded for M3 inserts?

I was looking to make some chassis cross brace pieces for my wraith and was wondering what inserts builders are useing in there tubes to connect them to the wraith chassis. I know they are threded for 3mm and being used in 1/4 ? SS and aluminum tubeing but thats about it.
Need a part number and/or better yet a place to buy.

Thanks in advance for the help guys.

You LHS will likely have a selection of aluminum tubing in 12" lengths. That is what I typically use. Cut to length and then run a tap in it.

Another option is McMaster-Carr, they will have aluminum & SS tubing, they also sell hardware.

Actually I've already found the tubing, going to run stainless. I just need to know which inserts to use, Mcmaster offers several different ones.
Aluminum is not really an option. I plan on brazeing some of the tubing together and while I can hold my own when it comes to brazeing, I'm just not ready to try to learn how to braze or weld aluminum just yet.

McMaster offers all these but I dont know weather to get press fit, screw in or something to just slip down in the tube and braze around the edge of the tube/insert to keep it in place.

Ummm....why do inserts?? If you get a correct sized tubing, you should be able to tap it to the correct thread.

Really, don't over think this.....

The inserts probably won't hold up...

Running 1/4" SS tubing that can be tapped out to M3, man that would be some thick sidewalld tubing and be heavy as hell.

The inner diameter of the 1/4" tubing I'm useing is pretty close to a lot of the inserts so most would be a snug tite fit.
Another thought would be to sink a M3 lock nut into the end of the tube leaving the cap portion sticking out and braze around the edge of it.
But that would melt the nylon insert out of the nut.
I like the idea of haveing the cap portion sticking out. When mounting the tube to the wraith chassis that cap can recess into the stock mounting hole creating a cleaner tighter fit.

If your dead set on using inserts, timeserts are the best, heli coils just suck,a timesert is a 1 piece formed insert, and thus wont pull out in a coil, like well heli coils.
