What size solid rod is best for building cages, sliders and bumpers?

It depends on what the scale of your build is.
For 1:10 scale I use 3/16" & 1/4"

3/16" for the majority of stuff and 1/8" for smaller stuff like grab handles.

I used 3/16. Got it a tractor supply. $2.99 for 48"
