Question Looking for more steel information

Hey all.

So I went and picked up an MAPP system for brazing and some 3/16 brake-line to play with. But I am looking for some additional information about what are the typical sizes/materials being used for building.
I've read a lot of build threads and have seen square tube, round tube, c-channel and square/round rods, but not a lot of info about the material and sizes.

I found one site that seems to offer a nice listing of materials and profile options, but not sure if I should be using Steel and SS, and what grade to look at or what wall thickness or plate thickness.
Speedy Metals

I understand that a lot of what I am asking will be subjective to what is being built, but I would still like a comprehensive list, maybe end up a sticky, that offers everyone a one-stop-shop to find build material information.

Thanks
ORA

i've built a few chassis and i normally only use 3/16 ths brake line ,3/16 ths solid cold rolled steel ,1/18 solid rod ,stainless i has a real tough time trying to braze it not sure it can be brazed.you will probably need to get a mapp/oxygen combo for it to get hot enough.i use oxy/acetylene for brazing and i tig weld the rest .stainless tigs really nice.hope this helps.make sure you take the coating off the brakeline before you put the flame to it could be toxic.
