go to your hobby shop get mutiple grits of sand paper. and go up in grits, the final grit you finish with with be super fine and barely feel like sand paper.

I'm a bit tired but I will find you a site in a few minutes.

So, you scratched it with 180 grit.........................then tried a rougher grit

Get some paper with X00s of grit (bigger the number, lighter the grit). Get some 200, 400, and 600+. Start softly with the 200 to try to smooth out some of the damage you have made, then work your way up through various grades.

Ok, start back with your 150 grit. after you do that, 280 grit, 320 grit, 400 grit and finish with a 600 grit.

Your going to want to pick up some sandable filler primer. You will probably need something to fill in the scratches. Then start at 400 and work your way up to a 1000 or more.
