Default Creating a jig or template?

I'm about to attempt first time making custom tuber for my wraith. I think the only part that intimidates me is drilling the holes into the steel stock and getting them to line up perfect with the bottom skid plate.

I have a ryobi drill press just like this one I have no kind of clamps or anything to lock down the item in place could really use some pointers to be able to get some good precision.

All you need to do is measure the hole spacing (center to center) and then make sure that the holes are in line with the center of the transmission skid mounts. It helps to have a straight edge or a square and punch.

After you punch the spots for the holes, clamp the metal to a piece of trash wood and hold on to that.

Ok that makes sense. I'm not so much concerned with marking the holes or getting them centered as I am with the piece itself being held in place since it's so small

I would trace your template onto a larger piece of sheet metal, then you can use a few c-clamps to secure it in place so you can drill the holes, then once drilled cut out the small piece with sheers or a cut off wheel.

That is one way to go about I suppose I could always drill the holes first then cut to length
