Default Resin for reinforcing a hardbody

Hey everyone, looking for some tips on an upcoming project.

I've got a NewBright Silverado that I don't want to tear up too bad. I've wanted for years to build an aluminum body and I think this would be a perfect candidate. The body itself is really thin for a hard body unfortunately, so I can't cut it apart immediately and use it for my forms.

I've seen somewhere that people are reinforcing the plastic hard bodies with resin prior to cutting them apart. What resin is everyone using for this? Is there a good way to "de-gas" the resin so I don't wind up with a bunch of air in it? Maybe if the pot life is long enough on the resin I could mix it in a small mason jar and use a brake bleeder pump to pull the air out?

Thanks everyone for your input on this.

Nothing in 7 weeks?

I guess when I get around to it I'll just have to figure it out.

Maybe I can help you.
To get all or most of the air bubbles out of casting resin you need to use a vacuum chamber and try to get the mix down to negative vacuum in the range
of-25/30 before applying.
For what you want to use it for this might work also:
