Have you thought about soldering outside? A fan blowing from behind you should take care of all the smoke.

3m disposable respirator will last you 2-3 years if you seal it back up in the bag. I imagine you wont solder all that much to kill the respirator

Doesn't mold grow from the moisture of your breath even in a sealed bag?

A friend? Know someone who you trust, who will solder for your? Or, teach a wife, girlfriend, kid, etc. to solder, set the connections up the way you want them, and have them do the joining.

Do you still have a reaction if you use an inhaler *before* soldering? Oftentimes, allergic reactions are much easier to prevent with medicine beforehand rather than trying to subdue them after they start.

+1 for Anderson power poles and their crimper. I use them on all my batt packs. Only thing I need solder for is motor connections, but half the time they already have bullets on them anyway. What's that: what size crimp pin were you using? Using the fattest ones ("45 amp") Even my 1/8th arrma running on 6s seems fine. ( and to folks new to app, note that the amp name doesn't denote their amp limit in rc application. It's more about how much current they can mange continuously over months/years) Last edited by AggressorBLUE; 07-23-2017 at 09:48 AM.

I was running the larger connectors. I could fit the 10awg battery wires on it. I did melt the connectors on my short course truck, but the system was way over worked. 4x4, 5250kv 2 pole motor and 120a esc. Running on 2s caused high current draw. It was really a poor setup for the truck. I was new though and didn't know any better at the time. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk |

A respirator would be your best bet. Get a descent one as the cheap ones can get darn uncomfortable.

McMaster-Carr sells a crimp connector with heat shrink and solder. The solder melts as you apply heat to shrink the insulation. No smoke!

No substitute for a good mask or respiratory system mask if you have breathing issues for any reasons.
