What RC parts have you 3D Printed????

Been wanting to start a thread to show other enthusiast what I have printed for my RC vehicles. I'd like to see everyone share what they have printed at home themselves vs Shapeaways. Let's just share what the part is if you design, remixed, or just found the file on a sharing site.

Here's some inner beadloc caps (don't know what to call them) I made for my Jeep Trailcat project.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/Bb...9=w803-h949-no

They are held in place with magnets. There is a ring that sets under the Beadloc, and then magnets that are in the Cat cap.

New body mount. It's a unimog body and didn't want holes in the hood. So I glued magnets to the inside of the grill and the stick to the mount. I've also made a low profile skid and upper link mounts all for the ascender platform.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...3394d3e179.jpg

I'm working on a grill for the Dolt and a few other small parts that probably already exist, but I need the practice w/ Solidworks and the printers that I use have a minimal access fee.

Cool looking stuff you guys are doing. I asked for a 3D printer for Christmas from my wife. Looking forward to using it. I have already designed half a dozen parts for various things that I want to try to print.

What CAD software are you guys using? I have been using FreeCAD because I am a Linux user and the play well together.

JSterrett, what CAD are you using? Looks browser based.

It is browser based. It's called OnShape. I tried Fusion360 and couldn't get the hang of it. They have awesome tutorials to teach you how to use it also...

I started with tinkercad but complex geometries can get pretty tricky, so I had to switch up

Re: What RC parts have you 3D Printed????

For me the secret to fusion 360 was sketches. To make a cube, you create a sketch on a plane, then draw a square on the sketch, then extrude the square to make a cube. Sounds complicated to make a cube, but who is designing cubes? If you draw a complex shape and extrude different parts at different heights you have something amazing. But most of it starts as a sketch on a surface. Then make a sketch on the new surface and begin again.

Put a battery through this thing today and holy shit does it exceed expectations. Launches flat, corners and steers extremely well and still crawls like that's all it was built for.

Yeah, OnShape is basically the same thing, sketches extruded from planes, but for some reason I struggled with the sketches in Fusion 360. OnShape just seems more intuitive to me. OnShape's tutorials are WAY better IMO, so maybe that has something to do with it...

I may have to give it another shot now that I'm more familiar with 3D design in general...

No More!

These print out in one shot and are fully functional. Even in PLA they are plenty strong. This SCX is over 10lbs with all these batteries stacked on it.

Unfortunately I posted some pics on my local FB group and everybody wants one. They take a day to print and since people actually PAY me for them they are usually higher up on the priority list.
