| Cutting 1/4 alluminum plate?
What's the best way to cut 1/4 or 1/8 inch aluminum plate for a chassis? I have access to a ~20" band saw w/ coolant feed, a CNC mill, plasma cutter, and some air powered dremel esque thing. Which should I use to cut out a ladder style chassis? I'm leaning towards the CNC, but whats the best way to setup the plate on the table?

Outside cuts - use the bandsaw Inside cuts - use the mill, unless your plasma cutter is capable of some precision work. (I've never had the pleasure of trying one, so I'm not sure how much clean-up work you'd be left with) Last edited by Big Mike; 04-27-2007 at 10:50 AM.

Plasma doesn't usually do aluminum to nice. It is so hot is melts it to much. I agree with the other statments however.

Double-sided carpet tape would make it so that it would take some force to pick it up, since you want absolutely 0 play in it. Quote:

I think I've got you beat diaz. It a GIANT machine, made by some f-something company. I can stand up in the enclosed milling area. It's not mine, but the guy is a freind of mine and he said i can use it when he's not prototyping for adidas.
