| Joining styrene to steel tubing
I was wondering if there is a way to join styrene to steel tubing. I tried using jb weld and super glue and neither worked. I was wonder if gorilla glue would work or any other kind of glue.

yeah, we would need more info. if it is for panels, I usually just weld a nut onto the tube and call it a day. I cannot see a reason why you would want it permanent. I would try gorilla glue, or some type of general epoxy. |

Yes it's for a tuber. I've brazed on nuts before but want to make a scale tuber and make it as scale as possible.

Use some type of 2m or 3m bolt or screw that has a flat head, and appoxy them to your panels in the places you need them that way the panels will be flush on the other side with no sight of bolts or screws and you can still remove and replace the panels as necc. I wouldnt go 'perma panel' That would be bad if you need to work on the rig then you gota brake your panel to remove it. Just my oppinion though! Also use something like "Plastiweld", "Double Bubble" something 2 part mix that gets hot as its drying. Rough up the area you are going to appoxy and then wipe with alcohol to clean the area DONT USE PAINT THINNER IT MAY MELT YOUR STUFF! And I wouldnt go more than 50/50 on your appoxy mix cause to much hardener will melt plastic also becouse of the Chem used. Hope this helps! Last edited by CCFBERG; 09-16-2007 at 07:00 PM. Long story, shortened the cat killed the dog with gorilla glue If I were going to perm. attach panels I'd braze them on. and not use styrene | |

DoubleJ-almost same thing happened here with our dog:-( You can use a hot glue gun to get a pretty good but still removable effect. |
