| E-Maxx axle shaft upgrade? also motor??
I just bought me a E-Maxx wide version and want to start my quest ino turning it into a rockcrawler. I see there is a concern in axle shaft strength when you lock the front and rear diffs and throw in different ring and pinion gear. What do you guys think about these http://cgi.ebay.com/Traxxas-E-Maxx-C...QQcmdZViewItem I am hoping these along with the above mods will help. I was also wondering what would be a good motor upgrade for this thing. I want to ditch both stock motors and do the 7.2volt conversion to the ESC. Any help on a good torquie motor?? |

I recently ordered a set of RDLogics CVDs for me E-Maxx last Sunday on eBay. They are the same as the ones you have linked, but I get the feeling those are knockoffs. For example, mine were $65 shipped all 6 new in packaging. If I would've gotten MIP CVDs, it would have been $50 a pair, a little over $150 shipped for all 6. So $35 without shipping and no brand mentioned makes me wonder. |

I ran the RD logics for a while. They were soft and bent pretty easily. The only CVD's worth buying are the MIP's. For less money, I would suggest converting to revo shafts and knuckles. You will get more steering from the revo's also. Search the maxx section for this info. It is there. |

I went to Lowe's and found some Pvc tubing that slipped over the shafts perfectly. Been using for months w/no problems. As far as the motors go, I'm running twin 55T axle snappers. I think the higher turn Integy's will give you more run time because they're 540 motors, but not sure. |

looks like I will be running to Lowes today Hopefully these will allow me to run the spools front and rear without snapping the shafts.

Also found at Lowe's is 4-40 threaded bulk rods sold in 3 foot lengths for a few dollars. I used it to make all my links. Covered that with steel brake line and slightly drilled out turnbuckle ends to thread on to the ends. Works great!! Here's the story from beginning to present. I had a thread going on here for awhile, but I 've made a lot more improvements since my last post. I've kept a better record of improvements on the Traxxas forums. Good luck!! http://monster.traxxas.com/showthrea...t=MAXXXCRAWLER |

Wow, thats a great looking maxx! I'm actually going to try the axle fix with the pvc. I'll try with metal too. Those RD Logics CVDs should be in soon, but it'd be nice to see how this works for the future and if the CVDs fail. Thanks for the idea! |
