| Here's my newly completed maxx-based thing.
Okay so it's not really a true crawler but I thought you maxx-interested folks might get a kick out if it. Humble beginnings: Here's how it turned out: and I tossed together a littel video of it last night: Right click and save as. |

it's a Nikko 1:6 body. Frame is made of 1/8" aluminum angle and some assorted scrap. it's got a stampede transmission driving a tmaxx transmission (single speed, forward only) and the arms, axles, etc are all tmaxx stock. it's got IFS in the front and a solid axle 4-link setup in the rear. I've got more pictures but I didn't want to spam up the board with a non-crawler. | |

There was just 2 pics, 1 of a pile of parts then a finished 1, hence the "no filler". We love pics here so like TC said if it's a maxx & has tech then let the pics fly |

Ask and ye shall recieve! here's a link to my gallery for this truck including the (patent pending) Mystery Drive System :?. let me know if you need any other custom pics. 1:6 F150 Gallery TwistedCreations: I did the dual tranny setup for 2 reasons: ONE: I'm too sloppy/lazy to make a decent motor mounting plate for my tmaxx tranny. TWO: I wanted plenty of reduction and this seemed like a pretty simple way to get it. |

It is definately geared way down. The best part is that I'm running crappy batteries and a mabuchi silver can motor and it moves great. Never runs out of power and runtimes are well over 10 minutes. Plus it's slow enough that it looks fairly scale. A quick guestimate of the gearing gives me approximately 80:1 final drive ratio. That translates to power-walking speed Quote:

different looking.... but you have a problem if you only get 10 mins runtime even with crappy batteries I get 45 min of runtime of a 1700 pack and about 1 1/2 hr on a 3000 pack Last edited by TwistedCreations; 09-23-2005 at 01:47 PM. |

You'll note that I said "well over 10 minutes" and I meant it. I just came back in from running about 22 minutes before my pack dumped. I flog it pretty hard and it DOES weigh in the neighborhood of 15lbs. I've noticed that if I take it easy and do slow technical driving it goes notably longer on a pack. I need to find a fuse for my peak charger too because I know that'll add a bit to each run as well. Quote:

There is no diff in the transfer case to worry about and so far both front and rear diffs are open. I'm thinking about doing something with the rear diff though to make it close to locked. Quote:

Thanks! The rear axle is the simplest thing ever. It's just independant maxx suspension that has been locked solid by putting some threaded rod and ball ends in place of the shocks. Then of course a mounting/skid plate was fixed to the bottom of the bulkheads to hold the works together. Quote:
