1- Slows the seals from leaking(probably not true but I lik to think so :-P ) 2- My rigs tend to rub the shocks at full lock and full stuff, so I'd rather only rub off paint from the springs. I have rubbed off enough of the coating on shock bodies...it looks trashy after a while.

the 2055 servos are 80oz of torqu and they suck, period!! even the 645mg's sucks. the do good on a TLT but on a big truck with bigger tires, they still barely turn the tires. as for the shocks, people run them due to preference also. mainly clearance reasons. and they do seem to keep the seals from not leaking a little bit longer. |

I guess I will have to try upsidedown shocks. Will a JR Z650M High Torque work, it has 142 oz of torque?

I learned something today. I was always under the impression that the shocks would lower the COG. Shock oil, plus the shock cartridge is probably a decent amount of weight. I may do it just cause it looks intimidating. |

I don't have any pics yet, but tonight I got the rear 4-link mounts and shock mounts welded on. Tomorrow I will make the links and then post some pics. My Y-harness with reverser will come in next Monday or Tuesday.

If building a Maxx based truck, you'll want to shoot for AT LEAST 200oz of torque. Maxx trucks tend to have funky steering setups and might cause extra stress on the servos, maybe. I have modified my steering setup and now have a traditional straight tierod setup. I also have a tighter turning setup too. I'll try to get a little write-up done this weekend.

Okay here are some pics. This one is supposed to be the same size as the others, don't know why it is small. Yea, this is a poser shot, no electronics in it. I took it out crawlin in my house and outside, and it has LOTS of torque, the motor I have in it right now is a science project motor that cost 5 bucks, it will not stall. About the steering right now I only have front steer, will be that way till next week, and my servo is a standard Z270, hardly any torque, and it turns fine, mabey its because it only weighs 7.6 pounds with every thing on it, dunno. | **Progress Update** Hopefully tomorrow I will finish my custom axles, I am doing the tube kind. I got al the rod cut and grinded and tapped, hopefully I can weld it tomorrow. I am not really looking foward to remounting the servos, I'm going to have to do something different probably. I might not have pics of the axles for a few weeks, because my dad has the camera and he is in Italy for 3 weeks with family. Tomorrow I will try to post some pics of my crawler VS my dog that were taken a couple of days ago. |

I don't know what it is, but every dog I have ever seen next to a RC, goes straight for the tires and stars to munch on them

The real funny thing is if I turn my crawler upside down, she is scared of it.

My dogs don't mind my crawler, but if I bring out something decently fast they will chase it until the batteries dump, then they just look at it and bark.

Maybe I'm just mean but that dog would either get slapped or have cold water dumped on it if I caught it doing that to my tires.

| She doesn't hurt the tire much, but if she is outside and does it I drive right over her and leave dirt colored tire marks on her. Update: I think my dad gets home next Saturday, so I will beable to take some pics. I have put in some 645MG's because as soon as I built the axles the Z270's didn't have the torque. This also required putting in a reciever pack to power the servo's. The wieght is up to 8.2 lbs. Yesterday I snaped a dirve shaft that goes from the diff to the wheel. I have HD shafts going from the trans to the diff and they are holding up verry well, the one that broke was one of the older style ones. My crawler just has too much torque for the old style shafts, because those shafts held up to a Pro .15, Sirio TX .18 and two 2.5R's and never broke, but as soon as I put them in my crawler I snaped one, cracked another, and twisted the other two. The only wear on the HD shafts is some dirt and a few scratches. |
