| Slipper clutch
I search but could not find how I should be running the slipper clutch. Should it be real tight, is there are any upgrades to it. Also I thought I read a discussion on how to decrease the slop in the tranny, when searching for slop or tranny I just get reffrences to locking the tranny in first. But I want to keep both gears but tighten up the slop a little. I know both of these have to been answered but I cant find it. |

You need the slipper tight with 12 pegs installed. There is no way to lessen the slop due to the slot in the gears that the shifter goes into. The only way to fix the slop is to lock it into 1st gear. Keep reading, you will find answers. It's a pain to sift through the posts but you gotta do it |

you can lessen the slop by adding epoxy into the gear slots so that they are just a hole for the engagement pins to fall into. I like a slipper to be functional. If you are using pegs then fill all the peg holes and tighten it down. I have a slipper pad dealy, kinda like a strobe slipper. Its very adjustable, and its saves my driveline from getting destroyed by the motor. |

The only way to make the stock "slipper" work at all is to cinch it down so tight that is doesn't slip at all. Otherwise when it slips, it roasts the center out of the gear. Robinson Racing makes a great upgrade with a steel center section and aluminum plates with friction pads that works like a real slipper. There's a plastic ring gear that bolts onto the steel center section. It's about 35 bucks, and easier to install than the 10 spur gears that you'll go thru if you don't install it.

I added some IC-2000 to mine to help stop any slipping that might happen. |

The Robinson Racing slipper, thats what I have. Thanks Micro. It's the only way to go for high power situations where you will actually need tranny protection. If you are using a lathe motor or one titan, a slipper isn't very important.

I think I am going to rip open the tranny and see if I could do that. THanks for all the other info on the slipper. I am just running on a lathe or a single titan so johnrobholmes are you saying I should just tighten it all the way | |

yep. Just tighten it down. The only thing a slipper does is prevent powerful motors from stripping the spur (which should be the weakest link anyway). Sometimes my slipper kicks in when all my tires are bound, but it has to be a pretty locked up situation.

I scrapped the slipper al together and run a Traxxas Spur Adapter #3693 $3.50. I'm at 216:1 with a 27T motor, Revo shafts and MIP axles and haven't broken it yet. I think the adapter is for a Stampede. - Hoss |
