Default To much vertical seperation?

I am building an E-maxx crawler and I have roughly 3" of vertical seperation between the link mounts on the axle. Is this to much or will it be OK?

greater verticle seperation at the axle will reduce the force on the links, however it may make the frame end mounting points interesting (if thats not a problem and the link mounts are sturdy its not to much seperation)

The downside to it is that you want your links to be parrellel to each other(looking from the side) I've got about 1 1/8"-1 1/4" at the frame.

I have about 1" at the frame right now but I have terrible rear steer. When looking at the side where should the link ends at the frame lay in relationship to each other? As I said earlier I have 1" up and down and my top link is about 1/2" closer to the axle then the bottom. Also my top links are about 3/8" longer(6" vs 6.375").
