| Waterproof servos...NOT so waterproof!
The servos on the Summit say that they are waterproof but after I ran my Summit in a creek the other day I noticed the next day that the servo that engages the front differential wasn't working. I opened it up and there was quite a bit of water in it. I left it open for a day so it could dry out and now it seems to be working again. I put some silicone around the wires that come out of it and I guess I'll stop playing with it in water that is deeper than the tires. |

I would contact traxxas about that. They actually have very good customer support. Shoot they may even send you a new servo |

I did call them and they want me to send it in to them. I don't really want to have to wait for all that crap so as long as the darn thing works I'll let it go. Just keep this in mind if you are planning on driving your Summit through deep water. I actually have found water in two of my little servos now.

Yeah something ain't right with the servos that you have. There are plenty of people using the servos on scalers and they are waterproof. There are also tons of videos showing Summit's submarining.

That's what I'm thinking but Traxxas doesn't seem to be quite as willing to help out as they used to....

What's so hard about sending them the bad product, the wait time? You shouldn't talk about a company until you know what it takes to keep up their excellent customer service.

Traxxas is still my favorite r/c company. The servos seem to be working fine right now so unless they just completely stop working I'm not going to worrk to much about it.

they say waterproof. it may be called waterproof, but from PERSONAL experience, waterproof electronics have a tendancy to be ove abused and water WILL eventually of quickly find a way in the electronice part.

Well, one of the little servos that got water into it a while back and had problems did take a shit on me yesterday. I wasn't even running it in water at the time, just some sand. I called TRAXXAS and they are going to send me a replacement at NO charge! I think I will go ahead and coat all the rest of the servos with liquid tape to further waterproof them and keep this from happening again.

Check youtube but if I remember correct 1) open servo fill bottom portion of servo with plastic dip, to include electronic board close and seal opening with plastic dip seal upper portion of servo with plastic dip put rubber O-ring on the outer gear then put on the servo horn the compress the O-ring. |

Help it out a bit, grease the gaskets and horn, maybe allowing water in via the horn. LIK |

The same happened to me, with the exception that the motor would not stop working after I removed the water out, I bought a new one and did the waterproofing myself. rgds |
