Default Summit batt question

I'm thinking of getting a summit. I see it comes with either the nimh batteries or lipo's. My question is are the lipo's worth the extra money? It doesnt say who makes them. Are they traaxas lipo's? I have lipo's already so these turn out to be about 95$ a peice mine were 27$ from hobby king. Are they that good of batteries?

Thanks
Steve

Hobby king lipos are usually very good for the $. I use them and maxamps and notice no difference. The lipo is very superior to the nickels. I trail run with 3-4 other guys in my town with the summits and its normal for our runs on a single charge to last 1.5+hrs. The nickels just plain are too heavy and lack the punch. Lipos are full power until they hit low voltage. Hope you take this into consideration. I ended up just giving my nickels away to some kid with a stampede.

Thanks

I would say the traxxas lipos are def not worth the extra $185. Buy it with the nickels and sell them hands down.

The newest versions do. Look in the description before you buy. The esc will specifically say lvd on it.

SPC makes 5000 and 8000mah batteries for the erevo and summit platforms. I've read a lot of good things about them.

If it's the latest model with the TQi TX then it will have LVD. They come with 2x 3000mah NIMHS but I sold the and used lipos from the off as I use them in all my other models. I use 6000mah nano techs from hobbyking. SPC ones are well recommended as well.

i run gens ace 60c 5000mah in my summit and they work well. If you order the direct ones the wires come directly out of the battery and will fit easily. The other ones have banana type plugs that plug in the top they don't fit so well. However pro match sells nice lay flat lipo plugs that can be ordered with traxxas plugs and your choice of wire length.

I run the 5200mah hard case LiPo from HK. They run in the snow for 45+ minutes. Usually I get too cold after that. I don't have a low voltage detection esc, so I just got the 2S LiPo alarm from HK.
