Default 2.2 Summit scaler build

Giving the Summit "LT" scaler truck thing a try. Just got most of the parts together over the last few days. I'm just waiting on some 2.2 interco super swamper XL's. The tires shown are not glued on those rims....and I'm not gonna use them for this right now. I'm also gonna lose the Slayer bumper.

Here it is compared to my wraith. It's pretty much the same in length and width.

A couple other body options I have laying around....I may get something new for it though
A Wraith cage may even look pretty cool on it......(definitely would cause some confusion....especially when people see a Wraith fly by at 40mph

Do you plan on taking both to the same spots to compare? It'd be interesting to see, but I can imagine the LT will be better on jumps and high speed for sure.

Yup. I actually glued up tires today.....the same exact ones i have on the Wraith. By having the same tires ill really be able to see the differences between the two. I just ran the summit for about 20 minutes and it is really much better than i expected. I've been wanting to try this conversion for well over a year now.....and I'm glad I did. No regrets

Do you know the total cost in parts? I was interested as well but as far as I saw it looked like it needed $150 in parts for everything which turned me off a bit. It's still a very cool mod nonetheless, so it may be worth it anyways.

I just did the math on what the parts cost me to convert. I spent $145 on everything.....so you're right on with the price. But to me thats well worth it because i now have a brand new different truck than what it was before.....at a much cheaper price than a new kit. I've had the Summit since Traxxas originally released it...so just a bit bored with it in stock form.

Here it is with the new tires all glued up . I used DE racing Trinidad 17mm hub wheels.

Installed some proline Slash front shocks, with Thunder Tiger MT4 G3 springs. ....just on the front of the truck. Now I've got tons of flex.

That is really turning out nicely. The Yeti 1/10 body would look great on this build. You get the hole thing on ebay for 60.00 has the same wheel base so it should look every scale.

Axial Yeti Rock Racer Factory Painted Body Shell with Roll Cage Interior | eBay

You will need this to mount the cage to on the back so that it flips up.

You could call it the Mini Yeti XL
It would be the only Yeti that has locking diffs and a 2 speed trans to boot!
That would be fun to see with other yeti's you could race them and then lock up the diffs and put in low gear and rock crawl right past them.

A yeti body might work...but I think it would be too short. I wouldn't want the stock paint job either. I haven't figured out what body yet. I've got lots of used ones on other RC's that I may use, but I think I want something new.
Here's a few possibilities I may trim and find a way to mount

The Yeti 1/10 and the Summit have a 14'' wheel base so it should work.

I just ordered the Yeti cage only from ebay...$32 shipped. If i like the fit I will order a clear body or make some sort of panels myself. If it doesn't fit it'll go right back up for sale on ebay. Definitely worth a shot...I think it'll look pretty good if it can be fitted to the summit.

I also bought a roll cage off of ebay. I'm doing a Stretched Summit with 1/5 scale parts (servo, wheels, tires and Yeti XL cage and body). The cost was $39.25 shipped. It is going to be a sweet crawler on a very large scale.

Lookin cool twisted.
While I'm waiting for the cage I'm still toying around with bodies that I have on hand. ....this is a bug body I had been using on my Vorza truggy. I kinda like it . if the Yeti cage fits I may order up the Yeti bug body. Its made to fit right over the Yeti cage.

The local hobby shop happened to have a Proline Yeti VW bug body in stock....so I took a gamble and snagged it. It is an absolutely perfect fit for the Summit!! I also picked up a Mamba Max Pro to run the sensored Tekin Truggy motor. The Tekin T8 ESC sucks IMO. I've been using it for years and I'm sick of it....there is a long delay to get into reverse...they say 1 second, but it's about 3 seconds. I'm done with it!! Off to fleabay!

I hope the cage is a good fit also. It is going to be a fun project to see running. Will you be posing a video?
