I ran 17" WB.. I didn't care for it too much until I went to Revo knuckles, which I could then turn on a dime

My maxx crawler has 18.5 inch wheelbase. I have not tried the revo knuckles, but with stock knuckles trimmed and with a custom front dig setup I can also turn on a dime. and climb steep verticals thanks to the wheelbase. Just keep the CG low.

How about aluminum maxx knuckles and MIP cvd's? I run MIPs and love them. I just got some aluminum knuckles in the mail and want to install them. The MIP shafts will last a long time. It took me almost a year to twist all four MIPs in my rig.

Default 18.5 inch wheelbase

Here is what 18.5 inch wheelbase and low gearing can do.

MIP survival depends on weight and driving style also..Also, Revo stuff costs the same, if not less, than a full set of new MIP's. It took you a year to snap all 4, when it took me a year and a half and have not broken one Revo . MIP CVD's are the only ones that would last me though. I snapped other CVD's like a pretzel. I always pointed everyone to MIP's, at least until I did the revo conversion.

revo shafts are hella strong. I use them for driveshafts. My solid axle design does not allow me to use revo shafts.
My crawler is a heavy weight. over 20 pounds easily. It is geared over 350:1 I like to crawl slow and controlled. grippy moab tires and under cut rock ledges are what caused the MIPs to twist and break.
Hey twistedcreations, how about a pic of your maxx rig.

I was also lucky to find the MIPs on ebay for less than 25 bucks for all four. what a steal!!

there is no set wb in crawling, all depends on your personal setup, size of tires, etc.. i personally am going to run a 17.5wb with 6.25 diameter giant tracs, all you can do is set it up to 18" and if that dont work trim your links down.

My wheel base is about 17 inches and I would like to make it longer. You can run any wheel base you want, there is no limit.
