| AgFRC 40Kg servo on Defender?
Hi, I'm new to this rc crawling hobby, being more familiar with rc heli crashing. In fact I'm so new to crawling I haven't even ordered my trx4 defender yet. So in researching I see that the servo is a definite weak link, and was thinking of replacing with a AGFRC 40kg unit. Is this a good or bad choice? Future crawling performance mods would include motor and ESC. In considering these future mods, what would pair up well with the 40kg servo? If it makes a difference I live in hot Floriduh. I was looking at the Hobby wing and Castle line, and of course open to any and all suggestions, Thanks.

Hi. I'm not familiar with that particular servo, but you should check the specs for the Amperage required. Stock ESC only delivers 1Amp which is way too low for any aftermarket servo. You might need a BEC to gp with it. Or you could get a Hobbywing 1080 WP ESC that comes with a decent internal BEC and cost around the same as getting a proper BEC. But my advise to you would be to get the truck first, drive it around your area to get to know it in stock form. Then you can make an educated decision on what needs to be changed/upgraded. Stock electronics are not great, but are not rubbish either. They can take you some way, until you decide what you really want for your truck. Don't fall in the ''money spending'' hole, without even trying the truck. There's plenty of time for that later |

xagoras is right, that servo looks pretty good but needs 5 amps of current.

AGFrc is a great brand and in fact is the OEM for many companies such as reefs, ndrsc ect. That being said check out some of their direct powered versions. That would allow you to use your stock esc.

A hobbywing 1080 ESC is around 40 dollars, and that has strong enough of a BEC to supply the correct amount of amperage to that servo. It also gives a lot more programming options for crawling.
