| Tires for RC4WD Wheels
I ordered the RC4WD stamped wheels for my second bronco before realizing that traxxas or proline tires aren't an easy direct fit. I already have the hubs on the way to fit them on the Rex so I'm planning on keeping them, but I'm on the fence about which direction to take from here. Has anyone used the RC4WD tires and liked them, if so which ones? Or am I better off getting the pro-line rings and sticking with one of their options? I mostly drive on loose/dry dirt and rock out here in the desert. Not much mud, snow, or water action. *EDIT Also, if you have any foam preferences please toss those in as well. It sounds like CI is a good option. Looking for foams for the stock rig and may change them on the heavier one also, it is weighing in at about 8.6 pounds if that matters. Thanks y'all Last edited by Topher Builds; 03-08-2018 at 11:39 AM. |

My favorite tires are Proline with Pitbull being second. Pitbulls have become insanely overpriced so I only buy them during their 50% off sales. I highly recommend Proline Hyrax and TSL Super Swampers as the two best all around tires I've used. My favorite RC4WD tire is the Irok in the X2SS compound. RC4WD has a newer compound that I haven't tried. If you decide to go with an RC4WD tire just be aware that they have the worst foams in the business and you will need to add aftermarket foams. |

I have a set of Compass Tires from RC4WD. They work ok, my only complaint is they're freakin HUGE! Believe they're scale 47's. I also have a set of Dirt Grabbers for a Land cruiser build I'm starting. Haven't run them but I'll tell ya. Mounting those suckers, even on RC4WD stamped steelies, is a major PITA. I still need to go back for a 3rd try at getting the bead to seat in those rims. I also run the Hyrax tires on my K10. Love those. They're great all around tires IMO. Those are the only Pro-Line Tires I've swapped in. I'd say if you could swing it order a set of ProLine rings. Just in case. I have a set on my pegboard in my shop that I haven't cracked open yet but it's nice to know if I want to move shoes around on the rigs I have the right rings to fit. |

My Rc4wd Baja Claws are soooo old. Still running strong. Probably not the best rock tire though.

After reading these responses and other googling I’ve decided I’m better off with proline tires in my life than these wheels, and I don’t want to pony up and buy the rings to make that happen so I’ve started the return process. Back to square one with finding some budget bead locs for the guest rig! Thanks for the responses. |

Ebay has a ton of options for under $50 shipped. I have several sets (a couple I'd be willing to sell) and no complaints. Some internal style beadlocks may not fit over the portals unless you do some grinding, but the external style should be fine. If you're not into the Chinese wheels, SSD wheels are nice and you can pick up a set for ~$70. VP wheels are a bit better but you are going to end up around $150 for a set once you buy hubs and hardware. The RBXL foam is pretty stiff. They might be fine on a TRX-4 once they are broken in though. |

Pitbull Rockbeasts on Gmade steelies. Absolutely love the performance, and they clear the portals just fine |

Those are Axial plastic hub covers, come with many of their kits.
