| ![]() Agreed 100%, now that I got the hang of it, it comes in very handy. It's not dig per-se, but definitely gives you some flexibility. Can rotate the front nicely if you've hung a rear tire as MOguy says. Also plenty of situations where I was climbing something steep and the front wanted to pull up. Unlock the rear diff, let one of the rear tires slip and the other three pull you up.

Yep!! A couple months back I was in a big competition, class 3. I competed against many custom built rigs and drivers with far far more experience than me. I beat many of the with my stock chassis (upgraded electronics and other stuff) TRX4. The ones with DIG and 4wd of course had the advantage but working my lockers also did great. I got 10th which may not seem great but this was stiff competition. In the class 2 (smaller tire 2 channel turn and burn) I got my ass handed to me. My class 2 is a true comp build and should be far more competitive than a little old basically stock TRX4 but a TRX4 and selectable lockers can maneuver and cover some ground (more than many want to admit) if you take a minute and learn how to use the selectable lockers. It takes a little but to learn how to take advantage of the selectable lockers it really works. *This was not a SORCCA event so class 2 and 3 may not be what some think it is. I have ordered one for my Sport ![]() No update, sorry. When I got the dig, it seemed too much plastic for my taste. So I never installed it. Got a Vanquish Ultra with dig instead ![]() Running my TRX-4s without dig.... Last edited by stigno; 02-12-2021 at 01:39 PM. |

A friend of mine just finished putting together the 3d printed DextersDesigns dig unit from Shapeways for his trx4. He ended up milling off the standoffs and making aluminum standoffs to go in their place to stiffen things up. Lots of little modifications had to be done to get it all working properly, but it works, and combined with an open rear diff, it turns as if it also has cutting brakes (in many scenarios.) He's got a lathe and mill at home, otherwise I'd say it could be accomplished with a Dremel and a drill press and a reasonably steady hand.

Can you get any more info on what he did to make it all work and maybe pics?

He sent me a handful of pictures, but I'm not bright enough to post pictures anymore. If you want to message your number to me, I can probably send them via text? I'll see if I can talk him into joining up here and posting about it.

I did the shape ways dig on my TRX-4 rear steer build. Had to convert the rear to 3 link, also design and print my own servo mount, but it works. Takes a little bit to get the linkage and EPA's dialed in though. Might have to shave the locking pawls a little to make it operate a little smoother but I'm going to do some break-in work before I worry too much about that. I don't have the pics hosted on a site to link to, is there another way I can post pics directly?

Since this post started I have done 4ws on my TRX. I have dig on an older MOA. I think I prefer the 4ws. I still have the rear selectable locker operation and with that and 4WS it is better in my opinion than dig.
