| trx4 sport under or over drive?
my budget will allow only one..so which will do the most good- no competition just rocks and some trail to get to the rocks. The sport will otherwise be stock for now-Thanks in advance

IMO under in rear is the preference but no harm in doing OD up front. It will make it a little faster though, which the sport is already geared a bit quick for a scale truck.

I would UD the rear since OD’ing reduces the gear ratio of the front.

I'll go in for UD's first too. Like Topher said, it's a little lower overall gearing that way. I did UD rears first in mine, then went for the OD fronts too, when the budget fit. jim |

Haha! While I appreciate the bid of confidence, most my knowledge comes from making mistakes and learning from failures. Not always going to be right but I’m always willing to be corrected, constructively.

Personally, for the way you are planning to drive your Sport I would not change gears. Because you don't plan to comp you won't have any need for an ultra tight turning radius which is the only benefit of OD/UD gears. For trail running and generic rock crawling, you will get much more performance benefit from a set of portal weights.

portal weights?hummmm OK I thought about that but thought the gears would be a better option- That would be an easier "add on" and still be within budget- Thanks for that

The gears help tighten the steering radius. The weights help keep it upright. I guess it depends on what you feel like your lacking in.
