At first I though about glueing it together, but I was hesitant of how strong it would be and how the glue would react with the paint. The paint I can cover it with some 3d carbon sticker, but the first place it would hit if it tumbles would be the roof.

But that's a good tip. Food for thought for future projects

E6000 wont eat away paint..... until you agitate it by mixing it around or wiggling the peices and then it can start to remove it.

Next step is to close the gaps between the truckbed and the side body panels. I found some carbon plate 1,5mm thick which is super light and durable. Cut and trimmed 2 pieces to match the lines. I used some 5mm spacers to get the required height and screwed them on the support beams.

What do you have planned for the interior?

I haven't thought of that yet. Not sure I want to add any because I want to keep the weight down.

I got the Traxxas Defender fender flares through the post earlier this week, but after seeing them from up close, I don't really like them for this project. I'm not a great fan of the visible screw holes.

So I decided to trim the fenders and later I will ccover them with some 3d carbon vinyl. Did some fine trimming on the front as well.

A while back, I got a set of window mesh for the Defender, that never used, so thought to use them in this project.

The large main piece, sits nicely on the rear window, after some trimming. The 2 smaller ones will be used together with 2 pieces of the cut fender to build a side window protector.

Gotcha! Just figured I'd ask. I got a g500 interior now but grc makes one for the blazer. So I'm yakin the g500 on out. I won't need it anymore

Finally, I got to the point where I'll start putting the 3d carbon tape to the body.

I've seen that one. It's neat. Basically all things I've gotten from GRC are very well made.

No doubt! When I saw the correct one for the blazer I had to get it! When I got this one I was really surprised by the quality. Honestly I didn't know what to expect at first

The top part gave me no issues. Nice and almost flat.

The sides required more work and patience to get there.

And finally the rear truckbed door.

Next will be to fabricate the side window mesh and cover the fender flares.

So, time for the side windows mesh. I used 2 pieces of the bumper I removed and some parts from the Defender mesh.

A couple of layers of carbon tape to hold them in place.

I decided to cover the remaining part of the cabin with the carbon.

Then it was time for the fender flares. I didn't like the look of the rubber Defender fender flares. They were too big for the look I was after. So trimmed the existing ones.

A couple more layers of carbon on the side mesh and cabin.

I think I'm done with the carbon at this point. Next will be to mount the plastic accessories.

I don't particularly like chrome or stainless parts on my rigs. So I had to paint all those that came like this to a more suitable matte black.

Then it was time to start installing all the pastic parts and accessories. Stock roof lights...

GRC Engine cover

I like the look of it. It has some nice lines and I'll probably add some carbon there as well.
