| how to paint a blazer 101
well I have seen many paint jobs on just about every thing. I like to make mine look real as possible. so I have been ask buy a few how do I do it? well here you go! most of its simple...but time consuming! you want fast? spray black on the inside and they you go.. want a real look. Or I will say SCALE LOOK! do it this way... first mask widows. Just to protect them from over spray.. now you will need a brand new #11 xacto blade in your knife. DO NOT USE A OLD ONE OR BROKEN TIP!!! now cut around all the windows carefully, patience my young paddy won!! and the tail lights we will do something here that will LOOK MUCH BETTER THAN DANG STICKERS.. make sure you mask tail lights and head light areas also. now very carefully remove the out side mask, leaving all the windows and lights still covered. next paint it BLACK with Lexan paint Pactra or Tamiya I used PS5 Last edited by lappdogg; 10-10-2014 at 01:54 PM. |

you should have a black body on the outside now. now comes some tedious steps but will pay off in scale latter down the process. you need some fine masking tape. I used 6mm Tamiya tape and some 1mm kyosho. now mask off all the window trim in tight corners just make straight and trim with your knife. now take the 1mm tape and go over all the door, hood, tailgate, and fender lines. make sure tape is down very good. I took a Gray Scotch bright pad and lightly scuff all of the out side. and cleaned it with windex. gets all finger oils off.. paint it white our the color of you choice for roof...now you can go extra step and mask off roof, if you want too..my body color choice was a light color and transparent, so I wanted white as the base. now mask off the roof. now paint it any color you want for the out side.. I used a Tamiya light blue met for plastic models.. VERY INPORTANT NOTE HERE!!!!PLEASE READ!!!! if you paint on the out side of lexan, you must use a lexan PAINT FIRST!!! or you will have paint FALIURE!!!. when I paint on the out side I always you a base cote of any lexan paint. mostly black sometimes white. depends on final color. they gray scuff pad always help's adhesion. now any kind of paint will stick to the lexan paint. why I used model paint. now I have it paint the light blue met Last edited by lappdogg; 10-10-2014 at 02:19 PM. |

now remove all the masking. but DO NOT REMOVE the tape on the inside covering glass and lights. you should have nice lines for door cracks and hood. now get you some Bare Metal Foil, any model store should have it. now used it for all the Chrome. I started with rear gate handle. use a cotton swab or a blunt stick and press it around the handle. cut around it with ANOTHER NEW BLADE! do your tail lights, see much better than stickers but where not done yet.. and side trim Last edited by lappdogg; 10-10-2014 at 02:54 PM. |

now mask off the inside of the body around the tail lights, and don't for get the back up light. small piece to keep it clear. and some on the out side from over spray. paint the tail lights with clear red. Tamiya PS37 when your done you should have tail lights that look much better than dang stickers. and can be lighted with some buckets. now you have a much better looking truck.. will add a few more details soon |
