Default How to keep the axles alive?

Helping a friend get his kit assembled. This is his first crawler. Bought some really nice electronics. MMP tekin crawler motor. Wants to run it on 3 and 4s. 2.2 tsls As well. The heavy-duty pinon and an MIP drive shafts are in the mail. Been thinking over time some hardened gears will show up and some over under drive gears like they did with the axial. For now though what can we do to keep the axles alive? Thanks a lot

shim the gears tight. The manual says one shim for left and right. You can use them both behind the gear. Then adjust the slipper so loose that you hear it slip in normal conditions. Then tighten it little by little, until it doesnt slip when crawling normally, but will slip if a tire gets bound up or something.

this has kept my truck from breaking and i have driven really lot. And i have the stock gears and driveshafts.

If your friend plans on comping with his rig or even doing some heavy off-roading with it, I would tighten the clutch as far as you can. You don't want any slip at all. If that clutch is allowed to slip, there's a good chance it might not be able to get itself out of some situations. Sorry volvospede, running stock gear and not breaking anything, then you're missing out on a lot more fun!!

I haven't had any issues yet with my stock gears and im running 2.2 tsl iroks with a 5.7kv motor that doesn't mean i don't have 2 sets off the hd gears on hand just in case but so far so good for me and I've got about 5hrs of run time in with this setup
