Default this guy thinks he can scale crawl ; his Ascender thinks otherwise

I'd be completely open to guidance or direction on my best course of action with this little development:

it is just the race or bearing cover but we all know stuff will get in there and ultimately result in some grit jamming that up under load to then break some pinion teeth or twist the OEM plastic driveshafts or something.

This is what's loose in 1st picture :

Does this call for :

• replacement

• me to just run-it 'til it 'splodes

• slathering it w/ rtv gasket maker & callin' it good

• buying a set of VP or Currie housings

I searched the googles and found what I think is the bearing but dunno the Vaterra part # for it:

It measures at an OD of 14mm .

Looks like a pita ...

It'd be cool to tell me it's no big deal .
It'd be just as cool to tell me I need to buy 's'pensive parts to throw at it.
😬

thnks

Its no biggie. You can leave the housing attatched to the truck and fix this.

Pull the wheels off, remove the 2 screws on each lockout and pull the axles with the lockouts. Next, pull the 4 screws off of the gear cover. Gear cover comes off and the spool comes out. There is a 3mm screw holding the pinion gear on the shaft that connects to the drive shaft. Remove that screw and the pinion gear. The driveshaft should slide right out. Replace both bearings. Button it all back up in reverse order.

Or you can go ahead and replace all the bearings in both the front and rear axle.

I lile the ascender axles because of the ease of wrenching and mods that can be done with them.

@willy.gee the Ascender K10 WB2 truggy is holding up fine, don't misunderstand. I just run this solely on very difficult and rocky terrain only so in only 4 months the near constant
raking & grinding of non skid covered bits are gonna take some wear. I do not think I can be the only guy this has happened to.

I appreciate the info , @CM9000 .

I was hoping to get part number or specific bearing size so I could order....

it looks like the housing lip is "ramped" worn right at edge of this bearing from the rocks ; is this just going to happen again & again unless I go to a more robust ( metal) housing ?

Srry, utter noob at 1/10th scale!

Isn't there a specific RPPHobby or RC4WD or Vaterra part number for the bearing ?

10x15x4mm bearing. Get a rubber sealed one as it will last longer if you run in wet terrain or water. Get a few for spares as the rear will probably do the same.
