Default Ascender K5 kit question

I purchased a new Ascender K5 kit from an individual off EBay, last night.

Will the kit come with the HD pinion gears and HD driveshafts? Is there an easy way to identify the HD pinions and HD driveshafts from the normal ones?

Thanks in advance for your help!

More than likely they'll be the upgraded parts. The HD driveshafts are much thicker than the originals. They only produced the kits with the non-HD parts for a year or less. I still have the non-HD driveshafts in my original Ascender and they haven't twisted up on me yet.

Full disclaimer: I found this pic on Facebook. It is not mine.

Top was the old style pinion gear, bottom is the HD pinion

No problem, you're welcome! If you want pics of the difference between the driveshafts, I can take some when I get home from work.

Congrats on your new kit!

If you use the stock plastic shocks, drill the shock pistons out a little, limit the travel internally about 5-6mm, lower the spring seat all the way to the cap. Or use Vaterra aluminum shocks and limit travel only. Use swaybar on the rear and outboard all four shocks for TT. BPC battery tray is nice, he has two sizes, do the smaller one.

Vaterra aluminum knuckles, chubs and rear lockouts are the nicest fit/finish and are setup to use the brass brake rotor weights, which are very nice non-rotating mass.

Looking forward to seeing what you build!

Yes, great advice! Both of my RTRs came with all HD driveshafts and pinion gears, still going strong too. I did finally break a CVD on my K10, but the newer ones are thicker and seem to be stronger. VP also offers CVDs for the Ascender.
