Default K5 pickup

Isn’t mine, but I took it for fresh up)
A good friend of mine struggling from not having time for hobby.
I offered him refreshing his truck for free.
His condition: zero budget, mine: i can do with the truck whatever i want. So this gonna be real budget build)

Here it is, vaterra ascender k5 aka Chuck and his owner

Truck spent over a year at the balcony.
First i’m going to disassemble it and see its condition

Receiver. In receiver box... Don’t trust receiver boxes. Ever.

It’s alive. Cleaned and sealed in dielectric compound

Bin:

Then some maintenance

Driveshaft pins and cut drill bit, for replacement, zero budget)

Man..

Adding style

Body was.. worse than shitty

As far as no budget, let’s make it pickup!

Color scheme was based on what i had in hands

He wanted new wheels so i’ve sent him to buy chinese plastic beadlocks and used mad beasts for 30 bucks.

Nice job on the pickup conversion. I just did that with mine but all lexan work and tonneau cover. Also bobbed the rear for better departure angle.

Very nice of you to freshen it up for your friend. I just installed mad beasts on my truck, they're breaking in and are doing better than I thought so give them time to break in a bit. Keep up he good work.

Thanks everyone!

Trying not to loose the pace otherwise i risk to switch to something else

Installed new battery tray. Exclusively put truck name on it)

All electronics now in the front, compensating overweighted rear of the body.

Body went for printing tail light buckets, side mirrors and dash. Gonna have interior
Next will be front inner fenders

Started the interior. Have to wait for the body to position the seats. Couldn’t find any aftermarket ones so spent an hour making my own))

Changed shakles to black (style!) and winch rope to reliable one

3d printed goodies ard about to be done

Great work, your friend should be thrilled. The dash piece you designed is awesome.

Any plans to offer prints in the marketplace?

That dash is sweet, I wish my "friends" were as nice as you. You and your buddy will be out wheeling and enjoying that delicious Russian Beer again soon.

One of which? Headlights are cheap chinese light module. If you interested, pm me and i’ll try to find the link. Led bar is custom made by local guys, suddenly they don’t do business internationally..
