| scx10 or 10.2 rear axle
Does anyone run one of these two in the rear for an overdrive under drive solution seeing as their never going to make gears for the stock axles?

Ya know, I've often wondered about using a Gmade Sawback/Komodo rear axle in the Ascender... The problem with using the scx10, and especially the 10.2 rear axles along with an Ascender front is that they are geared way lower than the Ascender, giving too much of a good thing. The Gmade axle would give a more useable ~20% underdrive and still have a smallish pumpkin, but no hardened gear are available. Food for thought anyhow. Ascender: 1.85 Sawback/Komodo: 2.28 Sawback/Komodo with R1 gears: 1.88 10.1: 2.92 10.1 ud: 3.30 10.1 od: 2.57 10.2 standard: 3.75 10.2 od: 3.375 |

HPi Venture is 13/43, so 3.30 same as SCX 10.1 ud. Good tough axles, but I don't know of any under/overdrive gears for them. I checked just as I couldn't remeber the ratio.

Great setup too and easier to change OD/UD ratios. | ||

so I threw a stock 10.1 axle in the rear today and it helped in turning radius but i think throwing od gears in it would actually put it around that 20% sweet spot.

Cool thanks for trying, quick looking without doing the math seems ya about correct on the ratio calculation. I’m tired I’ll do the math tomorrow. |

just a heads up, this setup works very well with the few runs I've put threw it.

With the stock scx10 axle you are at 37% under drive. Or 29%with the scx10 od gears That's more than I would use. Sent from my Vivo XI+ using Tapatalk Last edited by mgputer; 04-17-2019 at 05:42 PM. |
