Plus this is through Horizon Hobby so everyone and their mom should be able to get it. AKA local hobby store should have no problem getting it.

I spoke with an informative guy at Horizon on Thursday I think. He said there are select dealers that will have all the Vaterra line in stores before the remaining dealers. After giving my zip he told me were to go in my area.

Then, spoke with my dealer and found out the rally & road car ship this coming Monday. Twin Hammers & dune buggy ship the following Monday( feb 11)

He expects my Twin Hammers on WED the 13th, at which time I will immediately be there to pick it up.

Once the "select" dealers get this first round the rest will begin shipping to all Horizon dealers.

This is how understood it from my phone call...we'll see if it plays out that way.

I dropped by my LHS today and got the scoop. They are getting three, and I think one of the guys there has spoken for one already.

I pulled the trigger on the second one. Well, a $100 deposit anyway...

They're sayin' 2 to 3 weeks for the Twin Hammers to get there.

They did have a Kalahari and a Kemora in stock already, so I popped the body and undertray off of the Kalahari and gave it a look. If you've owned any Losi buggies the Kalahari will look familiar to you. Looked a lot like a stretched Half 8ight. The plastic looked a little higher quality than standard, and all the molding looked nice and crisp. Shocks were oil-filled aluminum units with threaded preload collars. According to the shop guys they simply pulled them out of the boxes, but the suspension movement of the Kalahari and the Kemora made me ask if they had tuned the shocks. They felt as smooth as butter runnin' off a hot biscuit. Very smooth and well-tuned for an RTR. Hardware appears to be of good quality as well, on par with what Axial provides. Overall I was impressed. Horizon and Vaterra look like they are serious about hitting the market with quality product at very competitive pricepoints.

Basically my first impression of Vaterra was "Slightly Higher quality Losi". Like Acura is to Honda sort of. I'm thinking the Twin Hammers is going to be a big hit for them...

I've been in that Hobby Hanger before. Just a few weeks ago matter of fact. Seem like nice people there!

Thanks for the preliminary review of the Vaterra stuff

Being one of the select dealers, we should see our first shipment early next week. Got 12 coming. I'll get them added to our website asap. If you're in the Northern California area, keep us in mind!

They are definitely good folks there. It's a very flight-oriented shop, but they keep a good stock of ground vehicles these days.

They know I'm usually hardware hunting for a crawler project and let me roam around behind the counters...

Guys, any body in the U.S. that wants one early, we will gladly ship where ever you like. Sorry about the price but it is the enforced Australian RRP. We tried to sell for lower and were shut down by the owner of the Aussie distributor.

Just put my preorder in at RPP. Fingers crossed that they are one of the "select dealers". I'd imagine so, it is RPP after all.
