Default Going brushless and 3s...looking for some advice

So my new twin hammers rtr motor/esc combo just isn't working for me. No low end power for any crawling at all.

I have a hobbywing sct pro esc left over from my sc days. It's waterproof and can run sensored motors. I use 3s 2200mah packs in all my other rigs so I want to be able to use these on this.

What's a good KV rating/gearing setup for a twin on 3s. Looking at the tekin 412 series of motors.

I love tekin products, have ran the redline BL motors and Pro4.

I have since dropped the redline motors and just dropped the Pro4 out of my Sexo.. I kinda blew the rotor apart in 4s.. Oops!

I've been running the HH Trailmaster BL in my scx and my sons wraith.
I just stole my sons this weekend for my Sexo.
It has survived my heavy throttle finger on 4s in both rigs.
I have modest 56/11(32p) gearing in my scx(8-9lbs) and this weekend I was running 54/12 gearing(which is a little high for my liking) in my Sexo (7.5lbs)..

Even with the high gearing and monster RB2's on my Sexo (solid axled exo/wraith with a exo cage). I had a load of torque left and some wicked wheel speed!

It's been one of the most surprising BL motor I have ran yet!
Geared low and it has so much torque, putting it in a rig without a bombproof drive train, is out of the question!

Both my rigs have the bombproof drive trains and I still managed to blow parts out! Front ring an pinion in both rigs, front stub shaft on the Sexo and a axle housing in the scx.. ;)

I have no doubt ur TH would be a Nasty Beast with the same motor.

I run 2200 mah 3s lipos with a novak 13.5 and 10.5 at stock gearing. Love both of them. No issues at all with low speed and or torque. And they go about 30mph in high gear.

Sidewinder with the 3800 KV castle motor. 27T pinion. 30 MPH, temps at 140-150 degrees. Lots of speed. Now that I have sensored ESCs, I can tell you that the Sidewinder has a sort of "kick" where it won't take super slow rotational speeds. It kind of just starts with a minimum speed, but its not super slow like a sensored system. I run mine exclusively on 3S.

I have also used a speed passion 5700 KV 2 pole motor and everything held up just fine. The motor was around 100 degrees after 1 pack. Extremely impressed with the low temps (likely due to the ventilated cans).

Go higher kv. Even on 3s 2300kv is slow. Go at least 3000kv or your kick yourself. High kv in sensored brushless still crawlers well.

I second that
I have run a 2500kv and 2 different 3250kv motors and they were to slow for me. I am now running 4150kv and it works great, speed and it crawls as slow as you want.

im loving the roc412 motors so it looks like 3300kv is my max. Im not looking for a ton of top end, all the guys i run with are slow hardcore crawlers

I started with a 17.5 then went to a 21.5 because I was doing slow stuff. Then I wanted to beable to go faster. So I went to 13.5 then 10.5. Honestly I can not say that the 21.5 crawled any better than the 10.5. As long as you are looking at sensored brushless I think it is safe to say go as high as you think you will want to go fast. Crawling will not be drastically effected. Plus you will have awesome wheel speed when you want it.
I have a buddy who always runs slow motors and he gets so upset when I can han with him all day and then hit the track with the same vehicle. Plus my temps are always well within the spec. Sensored bushless is far superior to any other with the exception of waterproofedness. I have not had luck waterproofing a sensored brushless system and therefor run a brushed system in one of my THs that I use for g6 comps.
