Red face new hammers first test not good...

Did not even run it yet and I got this horrid sound I think it may be the spur gear as it looks to have a flat spot on it for some reason.... hope it is not the gear box in the center...

contacted the guy on e-bay about it and I am hopping he sends me out a spur gear to try out fist before I ship it back to him.

here is a video

Mine made the same noise when I got it as well. It made no difference to driving it and was just a bit noisy. I eventually changed to 32p gears and now that sound has gone.

Cheers Jarrod

I found it looks like the gear was flat in a spot and the person who put it together has the mesh way to lose.

Also what is the smallest pinion gear you can use with the stock spur gear?

I am also thinking of putting in a much slower motor it seems to fast to go up in the mountains trailing? also how long does the stock battery last if you use low gear like 95% of the time?

THANKS

Thanks what do you think low will give you in run time?

also I put a stock Tamiya motor in mine right now but was looking maybe to put the axial 27 turn motor but I don't know if it's a better motor than the Tamiya Johnson motor they are suppose to be 27 turn motors also.

I am beginning to think Vaterra has zero Quality Control. Friendly people on the phone willing to send out replacement junk is no substitute IMO

The 15 turn is not made for trailing. It's made for bashing in the front yard. I put a 35 turn lathe motor in it and it was better. Still got hot with the way I drove it.

I'm brushless now and I love it.

I just got done putting 500K diff fluid in the front and I added the medium swaybar from the swaybar kit for the rear as it flexed a bit to much without it for me for trail running.. the place I go is very rocky trails with rocks of all sizes all over I think with the rear swaybar it will be good and for when I drive on a side angle it will help fro the dreaded to much flex that causes the front wheel to lift up more and more till you flip!

Anyone running the rear swaybars?

I have run the front and rear swaybars and took them off my last time out. The cg is low enough that I didn't think it needed them and I thought it hurt me too much in the rocks I drive in.

Also, I can see a damaged spot in your spur gear. Save yourself some trouble and get a 57t xxx-nt spur gear. It's 32p
