Try torching the tubing to soften it. The sidewall should only be .035" max

Just found this thread. I'm super impressed! I thought I had completed a tubing cage my self but yours just gave me some ideas. I was trying to figure out a way to improve the chassis and make it more like a latter frame. My wife won't be thanking you lol.

if the balls are too wide, just use a flat blade screwdriver to spread the arm opening. That happened with my Gmade shocks. The balls have a standoff portion that is a tight fit. That or use a dremel and grind out a small relief in the arm where they go.

The .032 wall 3/16 tubing bends fine if you bend it around something, like a piece of 1/2"-3/4" tubing/pipe/bar.

i would flatten off the sides of the balls with a file , hold them still by using a screw/bolt pushed in from the other side but not all the way through

i used pocket70's advice and just spread the mounts open. problem solved. thanks. as for bending the tube, i used a 3/16 / 1/4 brake line bender. i think i got it from harbor freight.

update. ditched the cantilever because the rig was too heavy for it. happened to be just as i made the decision, the new RC4WD king sct shocks cam out. got em. they are NICE! not a single plastic part on the whole shock. made a front shock mount, and we are good to go. i should be at round 4 of the U4RC glen helen event, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask. wish me luck.

That cage looks great! I'm also curious what's lurking in the background. Can't wait to see this rig on Sat!

went to the U4RC event on saturday. had a great time. lots of great rigs, drivers, and people. wish i brought my camera. didn't have the bast of luck with my rig, but let me assure you, i will be back. hopefully with another rig.

to get into depth, i ran the first race and the rear driveshaft fell off. fixed that then my tranny was grinding on something. finished 2 laps that race. next race, my tranny was still chewing on something even though i opened it up and checked everything. got a whole lap done, took a nasty tumble down the stairs, and pulled the shock shaft out of the lower eye. that ended my day. i still stayed and watched the carnage, but it was just an experience. i really need to tune and get some heavier shoes for this rig. spent a lot of time on my lid. and get more practice. U4RC has quite a race going on there, and im hooked. i came home happy, yet disappointed. leaving me wanting more. took some pics of the aftermath with my new camera and my took pics of my new rigs.

Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons. For you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.
