Question shock oil ?

I'm building a stock twin hammers for rock crawling only. I like a slow rebound & the book calls for 60w front 70w rear but Sr.Irie & gillbily23 runs 20w front & rear . I'm going to try 20w & see how I like it, but was wandering if anybody else runs something different in a rig used for rock crawling only ?

If you want slow rebound then 20wt is not going to give you that unless you run a solid piston with no holes and use only the small difference in diameters of the piston and shock body to allow the oil to pass through. You will be better off going with the thicker oil if you want slower compression and rebound or you can use a piston with less holes in it.

I only use enough 15wt oil to keep things lubed and just let the springs do the work on mine. Strictly used as a crawler/trail rig, all slow going as I'm locked in low.

I would like to add that I am now running 22.5 weight and also in G-Made XD's which has a larger bore than some shocks. So a smaller shock would need heavier weight to accomplish the same thing.
