Been lurking on this page for awhile now and figured it was time to join and contribute. I picked up this this twin hammer off of Craigslist about a year ago. The add stated that it was freshly rebuilt and covered in upgrades. It wasn't. Blown transmission, fried servo, stripped screws etc. Mad at myself for getting hustled I tossed it on the shelf and went back to other projects. Couple months ago my buddy asked if I was interested in taking his basket case twin hammer project off his hands so he could fund another build. Being the rc junkie I am i quickly handed over some cash and dove into rebuilding the junk pile I had bought. Anyways here are some pictures of my progress Basketcase box of parts Found some good parts in the box but everything needed to be cleaned up and gone through. Some other goodies from the box All cleaned up I'll be back to post more in a bit. Much better after some time in the blast cabinet. Toxic green powder Fresh from the oven Wish I had taken more pictures of the assembly. I was pretty frustrated from dealing with all the stripped screws. Transmission gears were shot as was the shifting servo. I installed vaterra metal gears and ordered a knk hardware kit to get started. Also picked up a HR spur gear cover because I thought it looked good. Not the best fit, mine has to be left a tad loose or the spur hits. I put a tiny o-ring under the top screw to keep it all snug. Only pic I could find of the truck before I took it apart. Starting to come together. I'm in need of a nice set of shocks. Any recommendations would be appreciated. I've read up on it and have been thinking about set of g-mades. Need to order something soon. Bpc rings and VP trailing arms. Super swampers Swapped out the VP links for the blue monkey links I powdercoated. Last edited by THX_138; 11-25-2017 at 12:19 AM. |

I bought GMade XD Piggybacks and love them. The damping adjustment and spring options are great. I pulled the bump stops and run softer springs up front, rears are un-touched. Haven't tried anything else, but don't see the need to. Love the powdercoating, I HAD mine sprayed to match my extreme green tools from Snap-On, but then I got a little brake clean on it and it's now brushed aluminum again for obvious reasons lol. -Travis |

Thanks for the recommendation. Those were actually the ones I was thinking about. I'm also interested in the rear dual shock mount from Blue monkey. Is this actually a useful upgrade or just looks cool? I'm planning to use this as a u4rc truck when it's done. Any advice and tips are welcomed and greatly appreciated.

I think one shock on the rear works just fine. IMO they are more for cool looks. |

GMade 103's in the back will be fine. Plenty of spring and damping there. I don't know any U4RC rules (though if I ever find anything similar near where I am I'd want to do it!), but the three biggest improvements for me were: - Trimming the rear frame back and removing the spare tire and mount - Moving the battery to the front - Gmade shocks/upright fronts A close 4th would be locking the diff. You get a lot more outright crawling capability with the locked diff, but it's not a must for U4RC and the front end felt much easier to deal with when turning; especially while hitting bumps in a corner at speed. Locked diff seems much more darty and difficult to control, and it's taking a while to get used to. I'm looking into more locking options, might have to repack the front diff with 500k oil. The first time I didn't fill it all the way and the air that was left in the diff (I think, anyway) really aerated that 500k and made it much lighter. -Travis |

Thanks for the input guys. My rear end is locked already using the vaterra locker. Front diff is open filled with 500k. I'm using the big battery kit and have already deleted the rear of the cage and the spare tire. I'll have to dig around and look for Codyboys axle mod. I'll get some more pics posted shortly. Ok more progress pics. Got the battery tray installed along with some boneyard electronics I had laying around. Stock scx10 esc and motor that I plan to swap out soon. Also using an mip driveshaft that I drilled through so I can use pins and not the little grub screws. This is how she is currently sitting. Almost done Last edited by THX_138; 11-25-2017 at 12:19 AM. |

Honestly I wasn't too sure about it at first but I had some leftover powder from a project I was helping someone with. Pretty happy with how it turned out. The pics don't really do it justice. It has a light gold flake that really shows in the sunlight. I need an interior panel and I'd like to get a new set of skins for it. I really like the gcm interior but I'm not sure I want to throw that much bread at it.

I wanted to use the Wraith interior, but there is no room with the depth on the TH. Its even worse if you use a standard shift servo...I was lucky I had a new mini servo in my box-o-parts Directly from the White House to you.... |

| Re: Brimstones Hammer Project Green is good I know what you mean. I made a few more scale items for my interior that I did not use on the hammer, because there was no room and did not look right. Last edited by Sr.Irie; 03-11-2016 at 09:30 PM. |

1963 with a 1776 dual kads and a freeway flyer transmission. She's down at the moment. I'm getting ready to pull the body to replace the floor pans. Good eye Sir.

Found these carbon fiber panels in the basketcase box figured I'd try them out. Well since I'm stuck waiting for parts to show up and didn't want to lose momentum I started building the other chassis I had. I found a guy locally that's getting rid of some g-mades that should fit my build nicely. I'll be picking them up later and hopefully get some more pics up tonight. Ok so I picked up a couple of sets of used shocks. I'd like to use the gmades but I don't have the right size captured spheres to mount them. I'm having a hard time figuring out what to do here. I'm looking for a more elegant solution than fuel hose. Any thoughts ideas would be great Mocked up using some ikons I had laying around until I figure out how to make the gmades fit.
