| A horn for your scaler
This is a remote controlled horn. Plug it into a spare channel. When the channel is 0% to about 50%, the horn is off. From about 50% to 100% the horn is on. The specs on the buzzer say: Sound Pressure Level: 83dB @ 10cm $10 |

Fantastic idea...................not sold on that particular tone for a horn though. Other options available as far as the tone?

| Re: A horn for your scaler I agree on the sound. It's a physics thing. Scale down the diaphragm and the frequency goes up. I can get larger transducers that will make a lower pitch sound. Price goes up too.

Actually, the frequency is so high because piezzo buzzers are designed to get attention/be noticable. There is a oscillator circuit in the buzzer that takes the dc voltage and runs it at a really high frequency (about the max that a human can hear). What the oscillating voltage does is vibrate some material. I think its called like piezoelectric material or something. They might sell them at a lower frequency? Might be worth lookin into... |

For $10 to get a horn workable from an extra channel. Heck yes. That high pitched- no. You make great stuff I know. I'll wait for something that sounds a little closer to the real thing tho.

| Re: A horn for your scaler Yep, just like an ultrasound transducer....but a lower frequency. They make different frequencies by changing the shape of the piezoelectric material. They used to use crystals, but now mostly use a ceramic material.

| Re: A horn for your scaler Yup, I get it. I have another transducer on its way. Will see what I can do with that. Unlike the first one, it doesn't oscillate by itself. This means I can send it a frequency of my choice. From what I have been able to find out, a frequency of about 400 Hz is common for a car horn. |

If you change to a normal speaker you can then alter the tone frequency in code using a pwm output... I think this is the most original idea you have produced yet... nothing else like it on the market. Well done ;) |
