when you climbed that one hill cory( the one in my video).. was you running that pack?

Yeap, I were. Those was the only batteries I used the whole day.

cool deal.. i will have to run those in comps then.. specially if they last you 15-20 mins.. they should last me longer with only one motor and a reduction unit

they sure was ALOT lighter than a normal pack.. at least half the weight if not a bit more. so you need 7 to make 7.2 volts? im guessing they are 1.5 volts each right?

They sure are a lot lighter. They're the usual 1.2 volts, so I was running at 8.4 volts. Which is probably why I didn't really notice a lack of power, or punch.

Reading over Energizer's pdf I see they have a 20% tolerance for some of their numbers. That can't make a good pack, not that it was a bad pack. That might even be normal. I plan to try CPB 1650 AAs.

although i hate the idea of thowing away a battery pack after one use, it sounds like a light, single use pack may be advantagous. Good idea Cory.

Even better, it's a rechargeable Nimh 2500 mAh AA pack. ;)

ahhhh, ok. i just read the pdf for the first time. i thought they were alkalines. i wonder why they are so light? I've had luck so far with my 9 cell AA pack.

Greetings from Down under.

I'm posting a link to a new battery pack i just tried out , and must say were very sucessfull.

You would of seen a link to my stick down here in Australia in the pic thread and seen that i was using the CPB 1800 4/5a on the front axle.

Well i got a pack of IB 1200 2/3a made up for me from i guy locally down here, i got him to use 10 cells so i'm running 12v.

You can see that they fit in the same spot as they are smaller than the 4/5a CPB cells but the beuty is that they are lower in height than the CPB pack ( great for low COG) and 10 of these cells weigh a bit less than the 8 cellCPB pack , they actually are just a little bit heavier than a lipo pack i had.

Got 30 mins running from the packs first charge with plenty of punch and only noticed a performance drop in the pack at around the 20min mark.Was a bit worried about the voltage draw on the pack but at 30 mins the pack was just warm.

Looks like i'll be getting another pack made up and use them for my comp batteries.

thank you for posting that information. I could not see the pics when i went to rcmadhouse? can you post them here? Or send them to me to post up. I'm really interested in these packs because one of the changes i really want to make to the stick is to get the battery up front. Thanks allot.

Before you guys ask , that's some lead weights tied to the bottom of the axles.Wanted a temp way to test out weights up front and had these lying around in my fishing tackle box.

I would like to see the durability of those cells. I've noticed with some of the small cells i tested that after a while they loose their kick. Maybe after 10 to 15 cycles they start to die out. Keep us updated as to the performance of the cells.

Tried them out again today and again no probs. The packs are getting warm but nowhere near hot . Have had about 6 cycles now so only time will tell.

Just one more option (but not small)
I have been running a 6 cell pack slighly modified on the links. All it takes is cutting the wrapper off of a normal pack and cutting the lower jumper strap and soldering in a longer jumper. It is quick to change out and provides long run times but comes with the weight of a normal RC pack. This setup worked very well for me at the Colorado Comp this weekend and I ran 4 courses on one battery and still had power for the bash session after. The balance is to the side the batteries mount ( I ran them on my front links) but overall point of balance is close to the middle of the back bone.

I am not sure if this is the correct place to post this, but...

Can this battery pack handle the amp draw of running one or two lathe motors? Would the rechargables from wal-mart mentioned above work just as well?

those cbp 2500 cells would work fine. I'm using CBP 1800 cells and 1650 AA's and they can handle two lathes no problem.
