Did you know that Holmes Hobbies offers custom soldering as well as plug installation on almost all products? We know that soldering is a task that few enjoy, and most wish to avoid. Next time you are browsing around for some electronics, consider saving some time and let us do your solder work for you! If you dont see the option listed for an item that you want, just drop us an email and let us know! Custom items that we have produced: Battery harnesses (series or parallel) Charging harnesses (lipo) Plug converters Servo extensions Servo power isolators Strangely shaped battery packs Phone, Ipod, and other external battery packs/ charging packs and many many more. My MP3 player now plays for 3 days straight thanks to the voltage regulator that I hooked up to a small LIPO. It also recharges the internal battery! What can we create for you? |

I knew you did that. But the MP3 player thing is too cool. My son could use that. He goes through AAA like they are candy. what would that cost me? :( |

The cost of a voltage regulator, plugs, and around $15 labor for most custom build stuff. I would just need to find out the basic specs of the MP3 player, and whether it will take an external power source. Not always cost effective (switching voltage regs are not all cheap yet) as compared to just buying a bunch of AAA's. In my case I cant service or change the internal battery, so on long trips it is nice to just jack it up to another battery and charge it up. Gotta watch the source lipo voltage though. Im modding a guy's Wii today. Gonna install a mod chip that allows backup and read of any disc. Even gamecube stuff. |

I was just thinking about how I could hook up an external pack to my iPod since I might be taking a VERY long flight soon. Don't know if they'll allow me to take the batteries on the plane.

They allow batteries. I flew with all kinds of stuff on me to RCX. Steel City, Does your Ipod allow USB charging while playing? |

Should be no big deal then. For some reason I remember a few versions not accepting external power and playing at the same time. I will make a sample IPOD power source and post it up. Switching regs are much better suited for the task. I sold my ipod to a friend, so I will see about snagging it for demo.
