Yup........

I wish that Venom would just offer a spool for these things. Although I have mine locked out the rear is starting to pop out. I need to tear it down again, I think the pins are not engaging the side gears all the way.

hey, honestly, the easiest way to solve this is weld the dam gears up. If you dont want to mess around with it, i heard that an ax-10 cast spool will fit. (dont hold me responsible if it dosnt)
But its easy enough to buy one and if it dosnt fit bring it back... My difs are welded and it is golden!

I just finished my kit today. i love the kit. The only thing that sticks is the lockers. My front one keeps coming out. no matter how tight the lever is. So i just said screw it and Jb welded the front and rear diffs. Im not going to use the lockers anyway. But still im very happy with the kit and thought it was fun to build only took 8hours with breaks.

Axial lockers don't fit. Already tried, Venom axles are larger.

Jb-weld is super strong. I have used it on many rc cars and it has never let me down. Im going to test it more tomorrow but i know its going to be fine. I have used it stuff with one of my race rc cars that does 70mph and it works great.

i think they need to look at this again and re engineer it again...... i like the kit, just the popping is my problem. i think i am going to have to get the washers... they seem simple and a quick fix..... but venom might need to look back into this....

Did you adjust the slider cover? Its the cover and screw that go on last and it has a detent to make that click sound. You can set the tension of the locker by tightening this screw CAREFULLY and the diff should not pop out of place. One thing to check is if the pins for some reason have slipped away from the bevel gear on the red alloy lock ring. Contact us if this is the case. The pins are pressed in at the factory and should be very tight fitting.
You should be able tolock it by hand and hear a loud click sound without fail.
I'm still driving the original axles from last summer and they never pop out of place, just tune them up should be good to go.

I would go with 1/4 Elipptic's mod w/the nylon washer. This is a permanent fix, but later you can take it out if you want. If you weld
or jb weld then you would not be able to. Also the washers only cost
me 24 cents a piece. It took me about 15 minutes per rear end to do.

son, that's the bad news, you need to go buy a JB welder, and I'll warn you now, they are hard to find and they are NOT cheap.

Good news so far for me. I had a chance to run it for a few hours for the first time at my LHS rock crawling setup and the diff locks didn't slip once. Tightening the screw did it for me.

When I was building my axles I didn't notice at first that there is a "right side up" to the diff lock switch cover. Maybe some of the unlocking issues are related to this??

One end of the cover has a bump built up on it, the axle housing has 2 dimples on it, that is what makes the clicking for the detent.

Maybe this will help someone out?

I made sure that the cover was on right and the screw was tight when I built the axles. I have over 10 hours of run time on mine and they have never slipped out. Knock on wood though.
