Talking My Venom 'Reeper Build

Here is my Venom Creeper all built up with a few runs on it. I have dubbed it The Reeper. I am still basically stock with a few minor mods. The grocery list:

  • Castle Sidewinder ESC
  • HighLandsRockRC hand-wound 45-turn motor
  • HiTec 645MG steering servo
  • My old cut up symmetrical ProlineMoabs
  • Right now I have 2 HighLandsRockRC axles with Axial C's on the back and 1 Frankenstein TLT steering knuckle and stub from breaking the stubs axles that came with it.
  • An old TRAXXAS 3-CH that I had lying around
  • We added a couple of spacers to the front links to rotate the axle up for better pinion angle
  • We added a shorter, stiffer spring to the left rear for twist issues
Currently I am preparing it for its first comp. I ran a couple practice courses last weekend (the first scored runs I have ever taken) and managed to make it through both with only 1 reset. Currently I am planning:

  • To replace the axle stubs for strength
  • BTA steering conversion from HighLandsRockRC which will also make room for axle mounted batts
  • a 7-cell, 2/3A pack, axle mounted
  • New rubber
  • A new radio
  • A BEC
  • A beefier servo
Thanks Venom! I have been very impressed with this crawler and I gladly will compete with it as much as I can. Enjoy!

Nice job,
Is the BTA steering conversion from HighLandsRockRC for the
Venom or are you modding it to fit. Im not sure it is needed
because of the front skid. Is this something beneficial. Would
like your feedback on this.

Thanks for the looks. HighLandsRockRC is my brother and I so it is just another way of saying we are gonna make it. :-P Our website isn't up yet, but when we start making stuff, we will make it avilable. I am going to do it so I can ditch the skid plates. They seem to hang me up more than help. I plan to use this mostly for comp, so I think the wear and tear on the axles will be spread out. Also, I want to move the servo off of the centerline so I can mount cells on the axles. Anyone have any cool stuff they are doing to fix the lack of a center skid?

Very interested in the BTA. Please keep us informed. I have seen a
couple of mods for the tranny skid. One person used an axle skid from
the Venom. I am not sure about the other, but they are here in the Venom section somewhere. Just Zach has modded his Venom extensively,
really nice work, bastard jr, axail tranny and then some.

Nice Chris! Put this in the factory support thread. Keep us in the loop so we can support venom as much as possible

Can't wait for that skid but I'll have to. I'll be picking one up when they come in.

I think this would be very beneficial. Do we have an ETA for its
release Chris?
