Default Junk Fasteners

Anyone have problems with stripped screws? The fasteners that came with my kit are such China-garbage that the small ones, especially the set screws, cannot be installed without stripping the hex drive sockets. I am using high quality tools (Wiha) and being very gentle. For example, while installing screws out of the same bag (should be same dimensions) one will fit a metric driver, the next will take an inch driver, and the next will have an almost round hole with no hex facets at all. I sent Venom an email describing the problem but short of replacing all of the fasteners I don't see a practical solution. Needless to say I am disappointed with the build so far, I'll keep you all posted with the anticipated solution from Venom. Anyone familiar with their return policy?

I agree, I kept tellin my buddy, that was the only downfall to the build. Well that and the motor being unreachable.

Thins thing aint comin apart due to at least half the hexes are stripped and cant get a tool in there.....heres to hopin I dont break.

I have problems with Hex heads. I have a full set of bits for everything, and nothing fits just right, I ended up switching over to philips heads on all my rigs, because they dont strip out (when you use the right bit) so i would find a screw set online or take the venom parts list to the hardware store and pick up philips heads, and they are cheap too.

I had to use a combination of Standard and Metric hex wrenches, worked fine.

Yeah, the hardware is kind of chinsy. I wish Tony's screws would make a stainless steel screw kit for the creeper.

I agree 100%, the smaller hex screws in this kit are rather crappy. I use Snap-On Hex Drivers, and even they stripped the screws. Im searching online for a better upgrade, possibly ones with deeper heads and not made out of recycled pop cans.
I also had issues with the screw to plastic areas like the bottom of the tranny, and the beadlocks stripping? I use gentle pressure and wait till it starts to feel snug and usually just give a 1/8 turn to just ensure proper seat...well on some of the screws i didnt even get a chance to feel for a snug, it just kept turning and turning

I got a reply from Venom today, they said they have never heard of this problem before and offered to send me more garbage screws. That'll accomplish a lot! They do deserve props for getting back to me quickly but they are not solving the problem. I went ahead and ordered the SS screw kit mentioned above, hope it works out better. If I had known about the low quality screws I never would have gotten a Creeper, if anyone is thinking about getting one be sure to add the cost of new screws to the price.

I had no problems with the hexes suplied! all in all not bad hardware more of a problem is the soft plastic which they use for the wheels, strips out very easily but all in all the creeper is pretty awesomeonly probs i've had is the traxxas servo gears desintegrate! metal gear servos ARE NECCESARY for the creeper, other than that the rigs pretty solid

Update: the build has been going very smoothly with the RCscrewz but to their credit Venom did try and make it right by sending me replacements. They have been very quick to send replacement parts, in fact I have never experienced such fast resolution of such issues. At this point I'm glad I went with a Creeper and my kid is very excited about getting it finished.
