Default Tire q??

Hey everyone i just got back from a local comp. and personally i think i did horrible.... lol even though i was 1 of 3 to make it across the rope bridge out of like 20 but points wise i failed horribly, well to the question
someone there told me, i have the stock creeper tires, that i should clip all the little nubs off and leave the big one and i would get much better traction. i dont have any $$ to work with right now so im stuck with what i got so any advice would be extremely helpful and greatly appreciated
thank you

what you are talking about is called SIPING,,yes cutting the tires down will improve almost any tire's performance,,the Creeper tires have lugs that about 1/2" (BIG LUGS) and 3/8" (SMALL LUGS),,,remove all of the 3/8" lugs,,even at the shoulder of the tire..the problem is these dont have enough opening to them,,the lugs are too close together

Another note,,the big lugs are raised above the smaller lugs

I got Pro-line hammers on my creeper right now, seem to work good. also got losi rock crawls but havent tried them yet. There is a couple of threads on here already on how to sipe and customize the stock tires so they work better.

The HB Sedonas is what I use.

The stock foams suck do you will have to upgrade but you will literally see the difference in crawling performance.

If you dont want to buy new one search "sipping" you tires.

Well done on comping it with stock tires !!
I know where you are at with dollars and tires. First of all the stockers can be made to perform better and you lose no money and it take about an hour to do all 4 tires.
There are many ways to do it and nothing is right or wrong. Cut / snip all of the small lugs off and then slice the larger lugs crosswise, like slicing a loaf of bread. 1 or 2 cuts per large lug is fine.
This cutting can be done with a dremel and a cutoff disc, a pair of fine nosed but strong wire snips or even a good sharp knife like the exacto or if you are really stuck use a new blade in a box cutter type knife.
I have used all of these tools to do siping on the stock tires and it does make a difference.
Cutting the stock foams to a star shape and then adding a channel to the centre also made a difference.

I still use my stock tires on my home course along with my cut and hacked axial rock-lizzard tires. I keep my Rovers for when I go down the road to my mates place where he has a real nice course.

The stockers can be made better but start saving your coins for some Rovers or better.
