Default Noob Crawler

I come from the full size realm (07 Wrangler Unlimited)
but the addition of twins has limited my wheeling, So I decided to build a crawler to hold me over.
I am going to start out as cheaply as possible, I have an old Rustler I am going to scavenge the radio from.
Just ordered a Creeper, Novak Rooster/55t combo, a stronger servo (will upgrade if I decide I like this hobby).
Future plans (after Christmas)
Paradox Skids (maybe some other goodies)
CKRC stage II upgrade (or a homebrew version)
BTA steering
Upgraded Radio
Upgraded Shafts
R2D mod, or Venom Dig (after I learn to drive!)
of course better tires and other tweeks.

I am sure I will add to my list as time goes on
I will add pics of my progress once my Creeper gets here.

Welcome fellow Creeper dude, congrats on the twins I'm slowly but surely changing over from nitro monster trucks to crawlin' and it's been a blast, these little Creepers are crawlin' machines.
Check out RMDesigns T&T's and the millions of other tips you'll find here.

I think I am going to wait and see the Paradox one
I can tell this is going to be addictive, aside from the amount of time I have spent on this forum the past week ( I think I have RMD's T&T memorized now)
I had to run to the LHS at lunch to see what they have on the shelf and to pick up some paint...and the thing isn't even here yet!!

Ok had the afternoon off and started the build.
Painted the body (Damn XXX masks were not reversed for each side, but I went with it since I will re-body later)
Assembled the shocks
Assembled the tires and wheels, screwed up 2 hex wrenches, put the beadlocks on the wrong side on one wheel , fingers are sore!
putting some oil on the threads definitely helped with assembling the beadlocks.

OK
I decided to sell off my old Rustler crap, and go LiPo
Question: the Rooster shows a 2s limit, but I know some of you guys are running 3s
anything need to be done to the ESC to run 3s? Will the ESC hold up? Benifits of 3s?
or will I be better off running 2s for a while, and upgrading to 3s electronics down the road?
thanx
Michael

Michael,,get a Novak Smart Stop lipo cut off for 3S (follow the instruction),,,set the Rooster for 2S throttle profile.

This way you can run the 2S for a while but also get a taste for the 3S just by disconnecting the Smart Stop.

My Rooster's have ran for months on 3S,,and one of them has no cooling fins anymore so,,,,

I think I got it
run the 3s smart stop when running 3s batteries, and disconnect it when running 2s batteries, correct?

yeah,,,that way you can bash around on the 2S with less chance of breaking stuff with less power then run 3S if you want more power or want to compete. Install the Smart Stop with a set of Micro Deans connectors so you can just unplug it...or you can leave it slodered in and just unplug the esc from the SS and plug it back into the Rx.

I need to retitle this as my build thread!

Well Creeper Claus did not know where to shop, so he brought cash
ordered the HR "C"s, Steering Knuckles and lock outs
Went to the LHS @ lunch to pick up some hex wrenches (again from Creeper Claus) and picked up the Losi shocks while I was at it.
waiting on my DX3E and Lipos as well

Grrrr
got notification that the "C" were not in stock
CKRC is showing them back in stock, so I placed a new order along with some white rovers($11.99 a pair!)
I think I need another set of rims, so I can bash the ridgelines and not have to undo the beadlocks
