ive never actually bought pins for my cvds. ive always looked for alternative sources. ive used the smooth end of drill bits and and the smooth part of my dynamite 1.5mm hex driver after i broke the tip off. you can look at your lhs for drill bits that will work. at the one here, its like $1 for a bit and i think i can make 2 or 3 cvd pins...just have to cut to length...also using tool steel works out fine, it doesnt bend, it breaks...

| You can't buy the pins alone. You can replace them with music wire though. It's available at the hardware store or your LHS. Just take the cvd with you to make sure you get the proper diameter. Axial pins will fit through but some may not be long enough or may be too long...since there are several different types of axle shafts for the Axial. If you have the RC4WD XVD shafts then you can buy pins dierctly form RC4WD...with that...thier pins may fit too. |

I use piano wire cut to about 1/8 inch longer. Then I put the cv with the pin in it on a hard surface (ei. my vise) and use a small ball peen hammer to mushroom out the ends of wire. I have never lost one since. |

Thanks for the tips. I have had my creeper for close to a year now and just now got to drive it! lol I got laid off soon after I bought it and haven't had the spare cash to finish it till recently. I had a pin back out yesterday and bend a little, took awhile but I straightened it out. I will definitely try some of your suggestions and keep extra in my tool box. Now I just need to do something about these drive shafts coming loose. Thanks |
