| F-100 Nitro Tuf-truk Test Run ! Hey all, I've been posting my builld over in "general crawlers". Before the masses hang me high, it's an all around trail rig. I'm still in testing stage of the build. These are all unedited vids, sorry, I haven't got software figured out yet. I can't figure which thread to post all the specs/pics in. What do you all think? QUIK SPECS; T-MAXX chassis, 4 link F/R, 2spd for/rev tranny, 2.2 swamp dogs, RPM rims, W/B 12.5", 2 cooling fans(1-motor, 1-clutch), MAXX driveshafts, 20tooth clutch bell, 72tooth spur gear. It took a good roll in one of the vids and spun a dogbone and bent a shock. It still ran, but severely hindered it on the LIONS BACK, hence the roll off LIONS BACK. But it still started back up. Hope you all enjoy! More vids in my other thread. I think i just threw up in my mouth a little bit.... Nitro? Looks like a cool spot to crawl. The only think I couldn't take is the noise of the junk nitro engine... LOL Last edited by mr.maxx; 09-26-2006 at 12:35 PM. |

Yeah, crawls about like I thought it would. Rev up the engine like crazy and then flips over. The truck sure looks good though. |

I would recommend a gear reduction unit of some sort, then maybe a clutch with a quicker engagement.

At least that's how we used to do it on the older 2-3 clutch setups, I don't know if there are some new fancy ones that work faster in trailing setup. | |

I like it, considering it is a tuf-truck it did about as good as i'd expect it to do on the rocks. Try taking a 1:1 tuf-truck on the rocks and you'd get similar results.

Neat truck man. I would definately suggest getting rid of that 20T CB. Find the smallest one you can and that should help you out. Also a 3 shoe aluminum clutch setup should bite alot harder too. Do you have any chassis pics of the truck?

Owning a few nitros myself. The problem is you always want to nail the throttle. |

The problem isnt the "nailing the throttle" its the sudden engagement of clutch sometimes.

Hey all, answering sum replies from you guys. Yes it already has the 3puck clutch. I just found a auxillary tranny with a 4:1 reduction, all aluminum, @ 140 bucks it'll be a minute b-4 i get it. To all you NITRO HATERS, I feel you, this rig was intended for the fun of it only. I don't have enough cash to support a competitive nitro rig. As for the "leading engagement" on the clutch; I had it set different, in the vids i wuz play'n with the settings. But flat out, it needs lower gears for it to work in that order, or the slipper just can't lock up. I am looking further into the formentioned aux tranny. I didn't have the problem with the dogbone til i tightened up the slipper. Also, drive'n this thing is a whole different can of worms than my electrics. And yes, it's hard not to nail it. I will soon be posting all specs and sum pics in a forum. I'm just try'n to figure out which one will offend the least people. There are a few of the build pics in "general crawlers" forum. As always, thanks to all of you good or bad i appreciate all the comments.

What I meant is they are for go fast not crawling. You want to nail the throttle and go fast. Quote:

I think a nitro crawler in fine. Its just not my cup of tea for crawling. Nothing wrong with stepping outside the box. Good luck with you project.

All I can see happening with nitro crawling is alot of burnt out clutch bells and shoes.

| I think it's OK, Lower the gearing a lot and put a muffler on it and it should work pretty good. Maybe put the motor in the front. Great rockracer no? |
