Went out to Boxcar Canyon today, I tried to find a simpler way to get back there but it looks like the easiest way is to park and walk down the railroad tracks which took me and my family about 15 minutes to walk , mind you this was with a 3 and 4 year old and a wife carrying a new born. | http://mapq.st/lB82mN Here's a mapquest visual if anyone would like to know where Boxcar Canyon is at, Pin #1 is where I park near the railroad tracks & pin #2 is basically where the rock is. You have to walk down the railroad tracks and cross the tressel, if you are bringing kids you may want to carry them across the tressel because the railroad ties have decent size gaps inbetween them. When you get to the other side of the tressel you will see a trail heading down torward the rock, it is very steep and has loose dirt in some spot. If you walk down the railroad tracks maybe another 200 feet there is a very simple trail on the right that is much simpler as it is not steep. |
