I agree about the wraith being kind of weak. But its a really cool platform. I have not had any money to spend on my kit I assembled, but I've been running it with an old traxxas motor 21 t. And tmaxx shocks that are over 10 years old. only thing I've bought so far is strc steering links and castle bec . I'll be making my own steering links soon as well as upper suspension links. I put my slash 4x4 slipper in as well. Not exactly correct but it works until I get more of the right stuff. I will be modding the stock driveshafts this week as well just to be sure. Don't give up on it. Just don't throw a ton of power at it either. I believe if traxxas would have made this, it may well have been cheesy looking, but if they made the exact same truck, you could have beat the crap out of it right out of the box. I'm not just a basher, I was a racer, had associated and losi and other car and trucks but the one thing you can say is that traxxas builds stuff to be beat on. |

I've been in the hobby 20+ years, and owned alot of kits and RTR's. RTR's are reasonably cheap upfront to get you going. That's fine, it gets new customers interested and keeps the hobby growing. But "Ready to Run" doesn't mean "ready to perform like an $800+ rc vehichle" either. I'm not saying crappy stuff is ok, just that you're getting an entry level rc. Shit WILL fail, break, burn up, whatever....it does when you spend the big bucks too. Most RC companies will make things right if you give them a chance. |

Brian I just bought a RTR wraith a few months ago and ive upgraded the links. shafts. spur pinion. tie rods. drag link. servo. esc and motor. all brand new stuff and now im back to running my STOCK motor due to my team brood taking a crap on me. today I got the magic white smoke (still runs but idk for how much longer) $1300+ into this and theres days I want to run it over with my semi and then theres days im beating the crap out of it and having a blast...

I always do a lot of research on my vehicles to find out what everyone is breaking and upgrading beforehand so there are no big surprises. |

I do aswell, and I expected stuff to break. Links especially (haven't broken one yet). But to have this thing feel ungodly CHINCY out of the box, is a bit ridiculous. a $400 anything else would have metal links. steering included. this thing is all around sloppy... Maybe I got a lemon. I'm all around displeased. I've been in RC's for 12 years. NONE of my RC's have felt this weak. My schumacher buggies, etc etc weren't this weak. This things alright for a backyard hill basher. but past that, it's not worth it. I'm all for spending money on RC's, especially for upgrades. But to fix what should have been done from the factory, is a bit much. Guess it's just safe to say for a crawler, I'll have to piece my shiz together instead of get a kit. We'll see! |
