Not required, but it may help avoid complications down the road.

The chassis you used as examples do seem to be illegal to me.

I was afraid that was going to be the answer when I brought this question back up. I had changes in mind that leaned towards what Don was doing, but didn't want to waste time and money only to find out I was wrong.

Even if chassis where pre-approved we would still have to tech and question them at comps due to the competitive nature of us all. Where there is a competitor there will also (generally) be a creative mind tweaking and squeezing any last edge out, every once and a while on a late night in the shop we find the wrong side of the little marks on the ruler!!!!!

This is true. I guess my comment was geared more towards customers who buy a chassis, and knowing that what they are getting is legal. What they do with it after that is up to them
